Tips for surviving first year

Akrati, (second year class rep) kindly passed on these tips on how to survive first year.

Tips to survive 1st year

Get Organised! – get a big yearly calendar and put it up on your wall. Write out what you are doing each day because every day is different.

Do not leave assignment and homework till the last minute. We are all guilty of pulling all-nighters but trust us when we say you do not want to do that this year!

Don’t get stressed out if the lecturers don’t put up the materials in time for you to print it. It happens quite often and there’s nothing you can do about it! So just relax and get your class rep to ask them to put up the material after the lecture.

Keep on top of your workload, and revisit your lecture notes!

Spend time on non-graded assignment and actually do it, but don’t forget about your other work.

Always inform tutors and co-ordinators if you can’t attend a lecture, clinic or lab session.

Go to all the AUDSS events and get the membership to get into events for a cheaper price! It’s a great way to socialise and get to know older years in BOH as well as the BDS students!

You don’t need to buy all the textbooks but keep Bath- Bologh, Marieb and Wilkins very close to you. They are the best!!!!

Approach your lecturers if you are having any difficulties: they are always there to help.

Good luck and enjoy your first year in the BOH!

BOHONE 2012 Posters

Well done. A collection of wonderful posters that determine the facets of our learning community. Could each group add some comments below to expand on some of these facets?

The six facets of our learning community

Thanks to all our BOHONE 2012 students who work shopped the six facets of our learning community. It looks as if the final 6 facets are:
RESPECT
SUPPORT
COLLABORATION
TRUST
ENCOURAGEMENT
DEVELOPMENT

Amongst my personal favourites that "wordle" obviously couldn't compute:

COMMUNICATIVITY
